ANSER presents at the Parliamentary Dialogue in the Basque Country
(19-10-2022) ANSER joined the Parliamentary Dialogue on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in fragile settings in the Basque Country to present its policy paper on the SRHR needs of Ukrainian refugees in host countries.
On the 12th & 13th of September 2022 a Parliamentary Dialogue ‘Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in fragile context: international cooperation and humanitarian action’ took place in the Basque Country. Elisa Vanlerberghe represented the Academic Network for Sexual and Reproductive health and rights policy (ANSER) and presented the ANSER policy paper on ‘Ensuring SRHR of Ukrainian refugees in host countries'. The policy paper presents the SRHR needs of Ukrainian refugees in host countries and calls upon the international community and national governments to ensure appropriate SRHR services in the host countries. The parliamentary dialogue was organised by the European Parliamentary Forum (EPF) on Sexual and Reproductive Rights; The Basque Country Intergroup on Population, Development and Sexual and Reproductive Rights and the NGO SEDRA Family Planning Federation. Parliamentarians from European countries, UN agencies and academics exchanged experiences on successful cooperation and legislation, identified and developed strategies and partnerships and shared practical examples of how parliamentarians can make a change for SRHR.
