NFPA awards study on Economic Impact of Fire to team lead by prof. Van Coile

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) seeks to improve its models for the cost of fire protection and the impact of fire protection on fire-induced losses, and to develop a cost-benefit methodology to inform investments in fire protection.

The consortium made up of Ghent University (prof. Ruben Van Coile), Utah State University (prof. Shuna Ni) and Johns Hopkins University (prof. Thomas Gernay) has been awarded the project. Completion is foreseen by summer 2022.

This project is part of the Structural Fire Engineering research and industry support at Ghent University.
