Language courses at UCT
In August and September, prospective Ghent University students can take summer courses at the University Language Centre (Universitair Centrum voor Talenonderwijs, UCT) to best prepare for your university studies.
During the summer, you can take the following courses at UCT:
- French conversation course
- Medical French and German
- Dutch for speakers of other languages
- Intensive Portuguese and Spanish for beginners
- Practical courses German, French, English, Italian and Spanish
The German language course at UCT is not to be confused with the German preparation course, organised in the first week of September by the German section of the departments Linguistics and Literature, which offers specific preparation for the study of "Linguistics and Literature".
The UCT courses take place during the day.
Besides summer courses, UCT also offers language courses during the first and second semester of the academic year. Most semester courses take place once a week in the evening and start in late September or early February. Most courses end before the start of the exam period, so that there is no overlap. Almost all courses can be taken from beginner level to advanced level. They are primarily aimed at taking your communicative skills to a higher level. There are also specialised language courses, such as Academic English, Legal French or Medical German. Have a look at the offer.
Registering for a language course can be done entirely online.
