Dr. Olga Burlyuk
Dr. Olga Burlyuk is an FWO Postdoctoral Fellow at the Ghent Institute for International and European Studies, working on a project on Culture in EU external relations, the case of Ukraine. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent (UK). Her doctoral dissertation focused on the European Union’s rule of law promotion policy in Ukraine. Previously, she obtained an MA in European Studies degree from the University of Maastricht (NL) and a Specialist in Law degree from the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (UA). Olga’s research interests lay in the sphere of EU external relations, in particular its efforts to transform third states and their societies through the promotion of democracy, the rule of law and human rights, as well as trade and development cooperation. The (Eastern) European neighbourhood and Ukraine in particular is her area of specialisation.
Olga is also affiliated with the Centre for Russian International Socio-Political and Economic Studies
