Dr. Thomas Jacobs is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of International and European Studies (GIES) of Ghent University's Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, where he defended his dissertation entitled 'Winning Hegemony. A discourse-theoretical perspective on political strategy and the trade politics of the European Parliament'. His research focuses on the discursive dimension of European Politics. He is particularly interested in hegemony theory, poststructuralism, Discourse Theory, and the oeuvre of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe on a theoretical level, and in EU trade policy and the political dynamics of the European Parliament on an empirical level.
